Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits he 'hates' being a substitute, although recent signing Dirk Kuyt is happy to be part of Rafa Benitez's squad rotation.
Of The Reds' seven games this season, Gerrard has started on the bench three times, including the 0-0 draw with PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
He is likely to be restored to the team for Grand Slam Sunday's tussle with Premiership champions Chelsea, but it is not a situation that the midfielder enjoys.
"I hate being a substitute," Gerrard told the Daily Star Sunday. "I'm someone who wants to play every game.
"Rotation is a modern part of football, but I absolutely hate it."
But Dutch striker Kuyt, meanwhile, concedes he is prepared to spend some games on the bench as he waits for his first Premiership start.
Kuyt told the News of the World: "I think I did well with Craig Bellamy in Eindhoven and it is a partnership that will grow.
"But I can play with Peter Crouch and Gerrard as well. Every player wants to play every game, but it is difficult when you have to play 65 matches.
"We have to work like a team and do it all together because we play so many matches.
"We have Chelsea, then Newcastle on Wednesday, Spurs on Sunday before Galatasaray in the Champions League.
"Not everyone can play every match so we must listen to the boss, do our best and play as much as possible."
The former Feyenoord hot shot also revealed that, ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are not considered a big club back in his homeland.
He added: "As far as the Dutch are concerned, Chelsea are not the biggest club, Liverpool are far bigger.
"It is also true of Manchester United and Arsenal, who were very popular when Dennis Bergkamp was playing for The Gunners.
"Chelsea have a rich man at the club in Roman Abramovich. They have very good players and they have won the league the last two seasons. But Liverpool have a much bigger history."
